STEPANAKERT (Combined Sources)—During a press conference held in Shushi on Monday, Russian billionaire and businessman German Sterligov announced that he intends to start production of eco-friendly food in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, according to Armenpress, citing Artsakhpress. Sterligov added that food will later be exported to Russia.

Sterligov described Nagorno-Karabakh as a wonderful place for producing affordable and eco-friendly food, and thinks that a trade house between Nagorno-Karabakh and Russia should be established through which the food can be exported to Russian markets without added chemical elements.

“If people in Russia try the food produced here, they will no longer use the food with chemical additions which is sold there,” Sterligov said.

Sterligov, his wife and five children left Russia for Artsakh three weeks ago. He plans on returning to Moscow on Thursday, showing journalists his air ticket during the press conference.

Sterligov revealed that his decision to move to Artskah came after he received repeated threats in Russia, specifically for his alleged activity with the Combat Organization of Russian Nationalists (BORN),a Russian ultranationalist gang, which he denies.

The only person he knows from BORN is Ilya Goryachev, said Sterligov. The leader of the organization reportedly asked the billionaire for money to start a pro-Russian Patriarch magazine, but Sterligov refused.

Sterligov also said that he initially wanted to leave for Belarus, but decided to stay in Artsakh. He expressed his admiration for the hospitality and kindness of the people there.

Sterligov hopes to return to Artsakh after cooperating with law-enforcement agencies in Russia in order to establish a farm and a fashion house, according to reports.

In related news, Azerbaijan has threatened journalists who attended the press conference in Shushi, saying that they will appear on Azerbaijan’s notorious black list for illegally entering Azerbaijan’s Armenian-occupied territories.

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry earlier declared the Russian singer Ljuba Kazarnovskaya an “undesirable person” for teacing master classes at the Stepanakert State Music College. Commenting on this, the singer said, “I am in the same list with Montserrat Caballé and I am proud of it. The Nagorno Karabakh Republic is a great place, where I took young people. I am not concerned. As long as there is aggression in the world, no peace will reign. Here, in Karabakh, people want peace.”

The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan started publishing its black list in 2013. The blacklist of foreigners who are banned from entering Azerbaijan includes individuals who visit the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh without making an agreement with Azeri authorities. Sterligov was also recently added to the list, which grows every year.

GERMAN STERLIGOV ARRESTED AT MOSCOW DOMODEDOVO AIRPORT

20:08, 31 August, 2015

MOSCOW, AUGUST 31, ARMENPRESS. Russian business man German Sterligov
was arrested at Domodedovo Airport minutes after the Yerevan-Moscow
plane landed. As "Armenpress" reports, citing BBC, Sterligov's lawyer
Artur Hayrapetov informed the mass media about the arrest. According
to preliminary information, the businessman was arrested by customs
officers when crossing the border of the RF.

"He arrives in Moscow from Yerevan today at 5 o'clock and he was
arrested when crossing the state border. In all likelihood, the arrest
of the businessman is connected with the international warrant for
his arrest", the lawyer informed.

Court of Baku Nasimi district filed a lawsuit against German Sterligov
for "public anti-state calls" and for "illegally crossing the state
border of Azerbaijan" on July 28.

Commenting on the fact of filing a lawsuit against him in Azerbaijan,
Sterligov mentioned in his official "Vkontakte" page that it is
Azerbaijan's response to his proposal of conducting a peaceful round
table discussion with Russian, Armenian and Azerbaijani experts.

Sterligov stressed that Azerbaijanis are afraid of an open discussion
on the facts about the historical belonging of Karabakh. Armenians
are not afraid of this topic, the Russians are not either. And only
Azerbaijan shows hysteria and threatening.

Sept 1 2015

[ 01 September 2015 00:25 ]

Baku-APA. Businessman German Sterligov who was detained at Moscow's
Domodedovo airport earlier on Monday has been released, his lawyer
Artur Airapetov told TASS, APA reports.

"Sterligov was released after talking to the law enforcers. He is
fine," the lawyer said.

Businessman German Sterligov was detained at Moscow's Domodedovo
airport upon his arrival from Yerevan, Armenia, on Monday evening.

According to Airapetov, his client stayed at the airport all the time
after the detention.

He said Sterligov had been detained due to the fact that Azerbaijan
had initiated criminal proceedings against the businessman and had
put his name on the CIS inter-state wanted list.

The airport's border guards told TASS that Sterligov was detained
when crossing the Russian state border.

Azerbaijan has initiated criminal proceedings against Sterligov
on charges of making open anti-government calls and for illegal
crossing of Azerbaijan's state border (articles 281.2 and 318.2 of
the Azerbaijani Penal Code, respectively).

Well-known Russian businessman German Sterligov, who has moved to
Nagorno-Karabakh with his wife and children, knows nothing about the
Azerbaijani investigators' intention to question him in Moscow.

is currently in the capital city of the Russian Federation (RF).

"I still don't know about this intention by the Azerbaijani
investigators," he stated on the air of Moscow Speaking radio.

The Russian businessman added, however, that he plans to consult
especially with the Russian law enforcement, regarding this matter.

"Whatever advice the RF services will give me, since I'm an RF citizen;
I'll do as they say," noted Sterligov, reported TASS news agency of
Russia. "I [also] need to consult with lawyers.

"For me, the Azerbaijani investigators are same as, for example,
the investigators of the Moon; they are all the same for me. I'm not

"Bolsheviks did everything for Turks to commit genocide of Armenians,
distributed Armenian lands, including Karabakh among Turkey and

RUSSIA INVESTIGATIVE COMMITTEE HAS NO DEMANDS FROM GERMAN STERLIGOV

00:15, 07.10.2015
Region:Armenia, Russia
Theme: Politics

The Investigative Committee of Russia has confirmed that the Russian
law enforcement agencies do not have any requirement from well-known
Russian businessman German Sterligov.

In response to Armenian News-NEWS.am's query regarding the allegations
of a criminal prosecution against Sterligov, the aforesaid committee
stated: "There is no material on investigative examinations and
a criminal case against the said person in the proceedings of the
investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian
Federation."

Earlier, Azerbaijan had declared an INTERPOL search for German
Sterligov, and on "charges" of visiting Nagorno-Karabakh. INTERPOL,
however, had canceled the search because it had seen political motives
in Baku's respective search. Subsequently, the Azerbaijani media began
claiming that a group of Azerbaijani investigators had gone to Moscow
to question Sterligov.

GERMAN STERLIGOV: I CONSIDER KARABAKH AN ARMENIAN LAND AND I AM NOT GOING TO TURN BACKWARDS FROM MY STAND

by Naira Badalyan

Wednesday, December 2, 20:34

Well-known businessman German Sterligov has been questioned by
the Russian investigators within the criminal case constituted by
the Azerbaijani law enforcers over Sterligov's visit to Karabakh,
Interfax reports.

"I have recently been summoned to the Investigative Committee, where
two employees asked me questions about the charges arraigned against
me by Azerbaijan and the request about my extradition," he has told
Interfax. He says the Russian Investigative Committee has assured him
that "Russia does not extradite its citizens". Nevertheless, he says,
the investigators recommended him not to leave Russia. "They have
named several countries, including those in near abroad, which can
extradite me to Azerbaijan if I visit those countries," Sterligov says.

He also notes that the investigators asked him about his attitude to
the Karabakh conflict. "I reiterated that I consider Nagorno-Karabakh
an Armenian land and I am not going to turn backwards from my stand
no matter what resolutions the UN adopts," he says.

To recall, on July 28 the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan
put German Sterligov on the international wanted list. He faces
charges based on Article 281.2 (public calls against the state)
and Article 318.2 (illegal crossing of the state border of Azerbaijan).
