I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Al Pacino will be collaborating with a group of Armenian performers to stage Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya. From what I understand Tatevik Ghaplanian will be doing the directing. I also know that Michael Poghosian will be one of the performs. I did not get much else as it was a short news report on Horizon. They showed Pacino viewing the few sketches they had prepared from the play. After the viewing Pacino stated that he could ‘sit there all day, all night, forever and watch it’ … and he expressed his enthusiasm to be part of the play. Apparently Pacino is a devoted fan of Russian literature and one of his dreams is to perform with a theater group in Russia … I think he specifically said St. Petersburg.
More details to come.
