That makes three!
Now how about the firewall part? - ZoneAlarm has been doing a bang up job for me - and it's easily configurable for things like remote access etc.

Would you consider a router with a built-in FW function and NAT as hardware firewall?

AVG? i used that crap once. nothing is better than northon. i had a russian virus once, mcafee, avg, bullguard couldn't fix it Northon did it baby.
As to the firewall i use Sygate Personal Firewall, it's free and it's a great firewall, i've been using it fore 4 years now

2 firewalls will work, but 2 antiviruses will probably create a conflict. i wouldn't recommend 2 antiviruses. even if they don't bother each other they'll most likely affect performance

why do you need 2 firewalls? just get 1 that's good

btw. aside from being a good firewall, sygate is easy to use, and has a user friendly interface, if you're a novic you'll find it easy to use and easy to get used to.
Although sygate is free it requires a simple registration, you don't need registration key or anything

Well before you pick firewall u need to answer couple of questions.... tongue.gif

- What do u use it for?
- Home user?
- Biz how big what apps r u running?
- do you currently own a router?
- have a broadband connection? static IP?
- What ISP do you have ? (I work for Verizon DSL ... infested with viruses)
- What do u expect to gain from AV?
- Norton and others have spyware removal ADWARE is MUCH batter at removing then any AV company.
- How advanced r u in terms of IT?
- Average user would be more then satisfied with home routers like DLINK, NETGEAR, LINKSYS. Rotuers like Netgear have SPI and NAT built in. Linksys WRT54G has 3'd parth firmware that extends the features of the with www.sveasoft.com. Dlink also has several powerful routers with built in FW. It all depends on your requirements. I suspect ur a home user so one of those routers with Adware, AVG or any antivirus program will be more then enough.

p.s. If you are not let me know i will recommend you enterprise firewall/av products smile.gif
