I love this song. It is very powerful and for that reason I decided to attempt a translation into English. I'm sure the translation has some flaws however I believe the important thing is to get the message.

Here is the End,
End - timeless and enduring,
As the turning of the last page,
And there is no turning back,
Oh dear, screeched,
You are my last, final prayer,
Remnant of an imprisoned soul,
Chained and lonely,
Here is the End,
The outcry of a powerless heart,
Oh unfinished, my last song,
You're my last capital,
Whom we believe in now,
Where is the soul of the church?
We have won the war,
But it appears we have lost,
Here is the End,
Says a voice from inside me,
Now only the mask of
The puppet crowd speaks,
The song is the arrow of freedom,
And the spear of a myth,
Bel the enemy has been defeated by Haig,
Or vice versa, perhaps...,
And the weary legend is closing its pages,
Crusted in statue, forgotten history,
There is no beginning and end to this eternal struggle,
Your vanishing kind is submitted to Bel,
Here is the End,
Haig has been defeated by his enemy Bel,
Here is the End,
I lost the terrible battle,
My wounded song is left unfinished,
But why she does not end?
And the weary legend is closing its pages,
Crusted in statue, forgotten history,
There is no beginning and end to this eternal struggle,
Your vanishing kind is submitted to Bel,
Here is the End
Haig has been defeated by his enemy Bel,

NO!

This song has been written three centuries ago by the great Armenian - Georgian composer Sayat Nova and yet sounds so contemporary.

translated by Karen Daduryan

I have two homes - locked
I have two hearts - stopped
I have two wings - bound
I have two lords – One God

Play with the string of my soul
Dance with the beat of my heart
Sound the bell of my monastery
Remember that Sayat-Nova..

I saturate with the breath of duduk
I bear the pain of my soul
I get blinded by the lies of this world
I depart poisoned by envy
They proclaimed me troubadour (gusan), mockingly
They took my wounded songs hostage
The voice of my throat muted
Conscience of these people vanished.
Play with the string of my soul
Dance with the beat of my heart
Sound the bell of my monastery
Remember that Sayat-Nova..
