I don't know Sev-mart. I was told yesterday that it comes from hajeli(Armenian for pleasing) but I was not sure. I always had assumed that it was a Persian or Arabic word, but what I was told yesterday made sense to me.

What I can say is that I would be very surprised it could be an arabic word(it isen't in my limited arabic vocabulary, neither any arabs I acountered, they have a different word to say please), I'm pretty sure it isen't an arabic word. If it isen't Armenian could be Persian, never know, but I always thought that it was an Armenian word.

BTW Azat, I drop of laughter on the floor when i have seen your new avatar(I'm not jocking). biggrin.gif

i might be wrong, but i think that, yes, it is from the word հաճոյել [ha&oyel]/[hajoyel] (to feel like doing, to want to do). so, the word հաճիս [ha&is]/[hajis] would mean would you feel like doing, please.

Are these words commonly used? Or more proper like?

same as saying, uzumem anel? or something to that effect?

yeah it's like hajeli, hajetsnel (to please), hajo/hajoyali (pleasing, pleasant) and i guess hajis is like k'hajes...would you?

Hajis is the word we've always used for please..we're from Lebanon...is there another word Barsgahyes or Hayasdantzees use(I don't mean a Persian or a Russian word btw)
