Lev7, compared with the whole world population, Armenians represent a very small number in this world. Yet look at how we've succeeded in every profession you can think of! In every profession there is an Armenian who's excelled and has fame in his/her work! That's a lot of accomplishment for the Armenian culture. Just today I was talking about this with my friend. The example I gave was the famous Chinese pianists Lang Lang and Yundi Li. I said to my friend that considering there are over a billion Chinese worldwide one Lang Lang is not enough. They should've given this world ten Lang Langs and ten Yundi Lis! So, considering our very, very small number and our tragic history I think as a culture we're pretty amazing smile.gif

As HyeFedayis pointed out, that's a good link to see where all our famous Armenians are.

Actually I think that we achieved a lot for such a small nation (in terms of size and population).

The only famous Armenians can be those Armenians from Armenia who have become internationally famous (Djivan Gasparyan, Aram Khachaturian), or diasporans like Atom Egoyan, Alan Hovhaness and William Saroyan who maintain connections with Armenia or fight for Armenian causes (System of a Down).

Let's see, Andre Agassi... an Assyrian will kill you if you tell him or her that he is Armenian. So will the Iranians. And let's remember that he is an American as well. Has he ever been to Armenia?

Garry Kasparov lives in Russia and is considered to be a Russian chess player. And he is also half Jewish. He was born in Baku. When was the last time he was in Armenia?

The Assyrians can get mad all they want. I have met his uncle myself, and an Asori he is not. He still attends Tehran's Ararat Sports Club regularly.

I however have to agree that he is not what you would call a committed compatriot.

Wasn't it proven that he was using an Armenian pseudonym? I remember reading something about Arutyunov... maybe I just don't recall....

R. J. Rushdoony

AKA Rousas John Rushdoony

The child of Armenian immigrants fleeing the Armenian Genocide, Rushdoony grew to become one of the leading thinkers in far-right Christian Fundamentalism.
