Dan, posting "stereotyping ... the passtime of shallow people" is an act of stereotyping in and of itself. wink.gif

No it is not. Shallow people are shallow, and stereotyping is shallow. I am not stereotyping stereotypes because stereotypes are stereotypical alread, so it's not stereotypical of me to say what I did. wink.gif It's just the facts that I'm stating. biggrin.gif

Pre-post disclaimer: tongue.gif
Well just start I'll say, I'm not some "Hye Kin-loving, let me come and take your women type of guy". I actually didn't know much about armos before college, and I met my best friend there. I met my girl, liked her, didn't know she was armo and then found out, began to study her and the culture and her I am. I'm just saying this so I'm not percieved as bashing.

Ok, now I have a bunch of male hye friends, and many don't even date armo girls, at all! Many tell me, "wow you found a nice clean armo girl, you're lucky!? Kind of a paradox but so it goes. Many tell me that the hye chicks of today either see them as too American, or too traditional hye. When I hang with my girl and her friends many of them only date hye martyer and some don't, it's a mix of course. Those that don't claim armo guys just act like they own armenian girls, and while they date(sleep with) other races, armo girls are supposed to just wait around and be virgins for them. They talk about chavanuism, how sometimes armo guys seem to have less respect for their mothers, sisters and other women subsequently. How armenian cats just want to run their women and what not.

NOW this is not at all a hye menak problem, many 'ethnic' chicks sometimes turn against their own. I have Indian female friends who say the same, philipinas etc. It happens more than you think, especially in America, and Southern California has so many different flavors in it, it's an easier place for a girl not to settle.

It's strange I know, but what I have learned from them is this. If/when dealing with a chavanistic group(sorry a general term but bear with me) girls may sometimes turn away because having seen it their whole life, seeing uncles, fathers, cousins and how they are, they don't want that when they have the choice. It's like being used to something, being around something so much, you grow to be against it. All groups have this to some extent I think. Its like knowing how something is, or feeling you know how it is so much, that you don't want to deal with.

That's just what I hear and what I see, of course this is broad, but I'm just giving it to you like it's been givien to me. I've seen it alot many girls say/do this, i'm not saying it's right. It's just another case of generalization. When people are like don't date sev shuns, 'they do this, they do that', or don't date 'persians, they do this they do that' sometimes people internalize those generalizations and feel that all armos/mexicans/asian whatever, will be the same and they choose not to deal with.

I agree, very well said Sev- mard.

but in that case i think we can count the male as feeling the same way as the girls, not wanting to marry someone out of its on culture!

Personally I think there are a lot of types of armenians.
Some good some bad, people who are complete opposites of one another. I dont think we can generalize armenians,
We are so scattered around the world, and socialize with different enthic groups and cultures, and types of armenians really various...

I dont think anything to do with love shoul dbe generalized... Love is a personel ting, therefore its everywomen for themselves and everymen for themselves... If per say 30% of women beleive in sucha nd such, then 35% beleive in such and such... so ona nd so forth.. well they all have to have some commec view in general, ou cant have every girl and every men have very distinct views... What im trying to say is when we genralize anything about love and what men thin ka dn what women think... To me it makes absolutley no difference, because im sure when i meet the one, we will know and every decision we make will be for ourselves, by ourselves and not taking into account what the majority, or a certain percentage of the population views for us.. get it?? I mean, what you guys are aying im kewl with. but just wanted to add this view of it also, where marriage and love are personel choices, and if society affects it in any way, then that is a marriage forced to be,, *in a sense*.....(society has its affects on ourselves i agree but what im saying is tht the statistics of society dont make a difference in our chice of marriage partners..)))

oh and tom lycus!!! i hate that f*&^% sob!!!! he makes sense though sometimes!!! but he's a *&$%#!!!! he says "men get married when they realize they're not hot enough to get all the chicks they want"....

i used to get very angry and depressed listening to him!! sad.gif

Granted talk radio is a piece of crap and I'd like to hogtie Tom Lykus to my truck, he is very funny at times and very stupid at other times. The latter is the norm.

Azat I wouldn't limit the estrangement, that exists and deepens between men and women, to the Armenian community in LA (Sev-Mard covered this). I wouldn't even limit it to Armenians, LA, US...or even to men and women.
This is the result of the fall of communism, an ideology that formed the alternative pole with its system of value. Now we're back to the struggle between creationists vs evolutionists, materialists vs idealists, traditionlists vs progresivists, conspiracy theories vs primitivist realizm ... and finally good vs evil smile.gif. And in physical world the advocates of the good are always the weak.
Now, you are going to ask how am I going to connect all this BS to your question. Umm...I don't know.
