did some serch on the web on Mt Nemrut

most all of the info is "FILTERED"

my question is are the God’s in the picture Armenian God’s or have become Armenian God’s in any point of time
The statues represent , Apollo, Fortuna, Heracles and Zeus
at oen point Nemrut was in Armenia

QUOTE
"There is an absolutely great photographer who is ethnically Armenian, Ara Guller. He is called the live symbol of Istanbul . Of course, in Turkey no one mentions that he is an Armenian but they worship him and there is the cult of Ara Guller. He is very famous all over the world. He shot the portraits of many famous and great people. He photographed Churchill, Fellini, Sofi Loren and Brigit Bardot but his most famous work is of Istanbul starting from middle of the last century. In 1960, he was the first to photograph the statutes of Gods – Armenian Gods – on the Mountain of Nemrut . He was also the first when he was charged with the task by the Turkish Army of photographing what is considered the remnants of Noah's Ark. Most of all, he was proud of these two photographs because these two features opened up the world for him. I filmed him for a documentary film about Turkey and this is what he said.” No need to confuse the flags under which we live, the language we speak with the heart that beats in the same way in everyone when the colour of our blood is the same. An artist belongs to the world that understands and loves him and not this or that nation.”

Yelena Kurdiyan, Gagik Tadevosyan "

Commagene was an Armenian Kingdom along with Sophene so everything in there is naturally Armenian. The map shows it when it was a Roman province.

The Gods are Hellenistic (not Hellenic), a fusion of Aegean, Anatolian and Iranic deities. Antiochus I Theos( half Seleucid) founded Nemrut Dağ.

Yeap, before Zariades and Artashes. Commagene was ruled by half Ervandouni/Orontid half Selvkid/Seleucid Kings.

Beautifull pictures MosJan. I love the Lion and the Eagle.

Here is a book I came about when searching "Urartu" on Amazon.com.

Pheonix:The Peoples of the Hills: Ancient Ararat and the Caucasus

It is general, but as you can see the heads of 2 Nemrut gods are on the cover, so I'm geussing it's a good read on the subject.

Watched the show. Very interesting. Always wanted to see Artak. He has good points. The only thing is politics is not his thing. But I really liked his explanation of issues from esoteric, mythological and historical points of view. Nice combination. And I am really proud and happy that current historians in Armenia have such liberal approach to their profession. I mean they do not stay in margins made by other historians and they do their own researches including researches in occult and other esoteric sciences.

The other guy Stepan Kiremidjian. Oh god. I think he is an idiot and he shouldn't be there and talk and host a show like that. The guy was very unethical and unarticulated. Absolutely no background of what he is doing and talking about.

P.S. I think this thread should be under Mythology section.

Always wanted to see Artak.

smile.gif i'm sure you did

The only thing is politics is not his thing.

you didn't like him talking about the role of the jews in the armenian reality? well, that's his job.

And I am really proud and happy that current historians in Armenia have such liberal approach to their profession.

yes indeed. unlike the fools who followed the footsteps of pyatrovsky and called the ararat kingdom urartu, most of the scholars today are independent thinkers. they simply refuse to say the earth is flat smile.gif

I mean they do not stay in margins made by other historians and they do their own researches including researches in occult and other esoteric sciences.

do you know who Hovik Nersesian is? I'm sure you and your friends(James Russel, Nina Garsoayan, Ronald Syuni) know and hate to hear about Armen Ayvazyan. He to is a young and a very intelligent scholar.

The other guy Stepan Kiremidjian. Oh god. I think he is an idiot and he shouldn't be there and talk and host a show like that.

smile.gif well it's his show and he is not that stupid as you might think. in fact, Stepan is an ex-KGB agent.

The guy was very unethical and unarticulated.

LOL that's him. i know him in person

P.S. I think this thread should be under Mythology section.

i don't think so. Artak wasn't preaching anything. he was simply recording the facts about the events of the past. you can also watch the first part of the conversation from the previous day show.

ArmoArmen

you are wrong! I didn't mean the role of the jews in the armenian reality when I said he shouldn't do politics.

And what the hell suppose to mean me and my friends (James Russel, Nina Garsoayan, Ronald Syuni) and who is Armen Ayvazyan ?

Who are these personalities? I don't know them.

Are you dreaming?

Beeing a KGB agent doesn't mean he can be good talk show host or historian.
