The “Case of the Seven” started 45 minutes late today not because accused Grigor Voskerchyan was brought to court late due to health conditions, but because he had been beaten.

Vardan Jhangiryan, who is the brother of former Deputy Prosecutor General Gagik Jhangiryan, is having trouble walking even with a stick, told “A1+” his wife Marine Jhangiryan. According to her, her husband’s health conditions are not good, his legs are weak and he can barely walk.

The “Case of the Seven” began 40 minutes late and then the court called for a break. In the beginning, Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan started explaining to the sides their rights declaring that he may remove the criminals if they showed disrespect.

There were more police officers near the Shengavit general jurisdiction court building today than average citizens. They were there earlier than the “Case of the Seven” began.

However, the committee was seriously concerned about the limited progress achieved with regard to the demands of the Assembly concerning the persons deprived of their liberty in relation to the events of 1 and 2 March 2008, especially concerning those charged under Articles 225 and 300 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, and prosecution cases based solely on police testimony without substantial corroborating evidence.

Different political circles and public layers think that Armenia is still governed by Robert Kocharyan. At least there is one state structure believing that Robert Kocharyan is “Armenia’s President.”

A fire broke out in Tufashen village, Shirak Marz, December 23. A 30-square-metre wooden floor and four windows of a room belonging to resident Khachatryan burnt down in the result.
