MONEY TRANSFERS GROW ANNUALLY
The news agency ARKA reports that during the international interbank conference on October 13 the president of the Central Bank Tigran Sargsyan announced that the interest in transfer systems will persist in Armenia. Tigran Sargsyan also informed that the amount of foreign transfers grows annually, especially that 2/3 of Armenians live outside Armenia and in this sense Armenia is a unique country.
Tigran Sargsyan did not speak about other things that are unique about Armenia, such as why people migrate from a country where the economy grows by double-digit figures for several years running, and why the revaluation of the dram is so artificial and absurd. Instead, Tigran Sargsyan spoke about globalization and announced that it renders the economy more liberal and “the influx of money grows steeply”.
According to the World Bank, in 2005 175 million migrants were included in the money transfer systems, and 230 billion dollars was transferred. “For some countries these transfers have core importance for the growth of the GDP,” noted Tigran Sargsyan.
