I don't know why any of the Azeris should be allowed back into Artsakh. Can't they occupy the former homes of Armenians in Azerbaijan?

If these Azeris really want to return to Artsakh, then they should let the Armenians occupy their former homes in Baku and other regions...

But which sane Armenian would want to go back to Azerbaijan and live among Turks?

Azeris composed 22.9% (37 300) of Karabagh's population before the war.

There were supposedly more Azeri refugees than Armenian ones.

No sane one, thus the Azeri side can make a generally empty offer if they really wanted to. Besides all those homes are already occupied by the Azeris.

The biggest amount of Azeri refugees came from the districts around Artsax. If they are allowed to return to those dictricts, there would be twice as many displaced Armenians.

No body can really give an honest opinion on this new option for peace on Artsakh. I can assure you that if you count the Azeri community in Artsagh when this referendum takes place 10 years from now, it would be disastrous for the Armenian side. The demographic situation will change in the ethnic Azeri favor.

This is absolutely unacceptable, although I'm confident Kocharyan is not so stupid to agree to it without certain conditions that would favor the Armenian side.

This whole affair is simply a test of endurance for us. To see how much world excrement will we endure. The world is simply going to do whatever it can to keep the so-called territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and in this regard the Russians have proved to be the whores of politics by joining the international community in this game. At this point they do not care if Artsax is lost for the Armenians. So this referendum business...with a promise [a promise!!!!] of voting to stay in or out is just a scam.

Still, we do not know the details...we'll have to wait and see.

I think the key is who controls Artshakh before the referendum. If Azeris don't have any control then it is not guranteed that they will be able to return make demographic changes. It should be explicitely written in the agreement who has the control in the transition period.

The Armenians of Diaspora worked their *sses off to raise enough money to rebuild the regions in and around Artsakh (including Kashatagh, Karvajar, etc.) I don't think it's ok to trade it for ''peace'' and a referendum that we're not even sure to win!

And the fact that there are 2 choices of ''yes'' and 1 choice of ''no'' makes the situation even more dangerous for Armenians, especially if Azeris return to Artsakh and participate in the referendum.

Note that with each Azerbaijani Muslim wife comes 6-8 children, and Muslim men usually get more than 1 wife...

There trully was more Azeris refugees than Armenian, but this doesn't mean anything here. Armenians were trully kicked out from Baku, Sumgait and other places, the Azeris government didn't managed its words when they wanted to kick any Armenians out of "Azerbaijan." On the other hand, those Azeris that left Armenia, a large part ;eft it for the same reasons as over a million Armenians left Armenia. It is obvious that when countries are created(the fall of the Soviet Union), many want to leave for what they consider their homeland. On the other hand, Armenians were not the nomads the Azeris were, they were established and had a clear role in the economy in many Azeris cities like Baku, they had no reason to leave, unless they were kicked out.

The Azeris refugee crises is more caused by the fact that the war was fought in Azerbaijan, and populations moved. How many million Lebanese ended up being refugees because of the civil war in Lebanon? But it isen't them that cry and want entire press coverages like the Azeris did. And now, they claim that what happened in 1992 in Khojaly was the biggest massacre in 1992, by reffering to a US department source that probably does not exist. This is insulting both for the Algerians(the massacres of 1992) and the victims of three Rowandian villages, that were butchered. Who afteral will pay full coverage publicity in newspapers and sell as products the death of peoples, the way Azerbaijan did and still do?
