In case anybody is contemplating using the free operating system Linux, but is wondering whether it will be compatible with the Armenian language, wonder no more: most distros (not all, but most) come with built-in Armenian keyboards that you can choose from a menu, and they don't have only the two layouts you see in Windows and Mac OS-X, but five layouts to chose from. The layouts available are the Eastern Papazian (from Windows), Western Papazian (from Windows), Armenia keyaboard, which is the one used most commonly in Armenia, and two phonetic layouts which are not bad. So, with a free operating system, without spending a single penny, you can write in Armenian right from the outset.
