**NKR Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunian recently announced that the Mataghis village of Martakert region of Artsakh will soon start producing and exporting black caviar through investments made by Diaspora Armenians and with the help of German experts, reports Banks.am. According to the news service of Artsakhs government, Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunian visited on October 26 the bordering Mataghis village where construction of infrastructures for the production of black caviar has been launched through investments made by Swiss-Armenian businessman Vardan Sermakesh.
The first spawn will be placed in nearly 350 basins of the future fishpond. According to the plan, Artsakh will become a large caviar exporter in the years to come. Artsakhs Prime Minister has not only mentioned the economic significance of the program, but has also attached importance to the implementation of the program in the bordering village.
Let us mention that according to previous statement by the Prime Minister, Artsakh will export the first contingent of black caviar in four years and will be producing 30 tons of black caviar in seven years, making Artsakh one of the large exporters in the market.
A reporter for MediaMax recently visited the construction site of the black caviar production unit in Mataghis and talked to the head of the village about the program.
Head of Mataghis village Zaven Avanesian said the large production will help create new jobs and will contribute to the development of the bordering village.
According to initial data, the fish farm will help create 50-60 jobs, of which 30-40 will be for young women. Women of Mataghis are mainly the ones facing the issue of unemployment. There will also be a high salary, the village head said and mentioned that according to the agreement with the Prime Minister, many villagers will undergo training, if necessary. The investor assures that production from here will be more than production in the Caspian Sea. The investment program costs $30 million, Zaven Avanesian said.
Avanesyan mentioned that construction of the production unit was launched nearly 10 days ago and that much groundwork has already been completed. The first phase will end on 20 November. As a result, the 1,250 square meter building will be ready, and the leveling of concrete will be done. The production unit is being built in the area near the dam of Mataghis from where water will be supplied for production at 80 cubic meters of speed every second. When asked which technologies will be applied during production, Avanesian had trouble saying which technologies, but mentioned that the results of the laboratory investigation have shown that even in the period when the water is the dirtiest, the water can be used for production.
