"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
Keep in mind The Hitchhikers Guide is a comedic book and the Douglas Adams was a staunch atheist and good friend of Richard Dawkins.

I'm fully aware of the fact that Adams was an atheist. The quote, taken from a satirical novel, was meant to reflect that.

none believer of God or none-believer, period!
does an atheist believe in something? or someone?
,
if yes then your a believer, i believe in Sun, a God? in my hamble opinion yes it is God, therefore I'm a believer among many believes.
any topic or discussion regarding God is fruitless conversation other then someone, if not all, driven by in so many reasons, be hormonal, egocentric, narcissistic reasons etc...are exercising there verbal skills without much input or thought
or have nothing else (better to do) like you all
i remember a line from a movie, "did you love your daddy, yes!!, prove it"
can someone prove ones love for someone verbally? or believe? faith, a direction, life!?
what is God? God is you me and everyone around us, that is if you believe in them!! if do, hence you believe in something or in God. don't like the word God? just leave it out.

Non-believer of God.
Does an atheist believe in someone? I believe you exist. I believe I exist. Just because you and I exist doesn't mean that God exists. Of course, in this case the idea of God is very different from person to person, so I've long given up explaining my personal views on God and expecting to understand another's idea of God.

I couldn't remember what side of the fence you were on and was too lazy to go back and check so I just responded in case it was relevant. Sorry.

That is perhaps the most fundamental realization that many "believers" either do not make, or choose to ignore because of all the other uncomfortable existential questions it opens up (like where we come from, where do we go, what is the meaning of life, etc etc).
An atheist though is a believer. She blieves God does not exist. It is obvious that the Christian God does not exist but I wouldn't go as far as saying no God exists. That is simply something humans cannot know. So I guess that makes me a believer of not knowing (aka agnostic).
Hey, what do you know! We're all believers. Except obviously my bliefs are better than everyone else's.

I may add that atheists generally leave a very small window of opportunity in case they are proven wrong by Him. "There is no God unless it is proven otherwise".

Ha ha. I used to be pretty radical atheist(Soviet influence). Now, as I age slowly, I do not want to break the bank:) Will see...That is my approach.
Although, I was married in Christian Church. So there is a bit of hope:)

and you consider your self an atheist?
you must have some kind of faith, don't you?
come on Sip, In know you have faith.
30 years from now, can you say, outlook in life at this age you are now, you could of been wrong?
you know I know you'll think that.
man without faith is nothing. what are we, just a small particles in this vastness of space
i don't believe man kind could of survived and thrived so many years without something to hang on,
religion is poison (thank you mao) is always and has been a form of tool, to manipulate, to control, to start wars (bush) and commit genocides
if someone has faith in humanity therefor the person can not be an atheist
its a very paradoxical question, the god syndrome, almost everyone has a idea what God is, but no one talks about God when they are rich, full, and happy
why do people remember God when they are down, to feel better, God is just a comfort word for ones who need "him" in the hour of need.

Sip,
So what do you actually believe and why do you think your beliefs are superior than others? What are you beliefs based upon?
