Events dedicated to the 100th birthday of Catholicos Vazgen A

The Jubilee Commission preparing the celebration of the 100th birthday of the Vazgen A Catholicos of All Armenians convened its first sitting today. Upon the instruction of the Commission Chair, Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan, the sitting was presided over by RA Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration Hovik Abrahamyan.

The Commission discussed the draft program of the arrangements dedicated to the 100th birthday of His Holiness Vazgen A, which envisages more than 15 events in scientific, cultural and other spheres. In particular, it is envisaged to hold a scientific conference in summer and autumn, organize a religious music festival, an exhibit of photo materials, publish the full collection of Vazgen A’s works, hold open lessons dedicated to the life and work of the Patriarch in secondary schools.

The program of arrangements envisages naming one of the central streets in Yerevan and Etchmiadzin after Catholicos Vazgen A and set a scholarship after His Holiness at the Theological faculty of the Yerevan State University.

The 100th jubilee evening dedicated to Catholicos Vazgen A’s 100th birthday will be held at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet after Alexander Spendiaryan.

The draft program of arrangements will be presented to the ratification of the Commission Chairman.
