WHY IS CATHOLICOS SILENT?
Two years ago an Azerbaijani commando, according to the official
press release, penetrated into the Armenian positions and fired at
the sleeping soldiers. Four died, four were injured. The commando was
rendered harmless, and his body, as the Karabakh authorities said,
was lying in the neutral area for a long time.
Azerbaijan did everything to return the body of the commando Ibrahimov
and make him a hero, a shaheed. The Karabakh side did not want to
return the body because they understanding that he would be the next
idol of the Azerbaijani militarism.
However, the religious channel was used, and the leader of Muslims
asked the Center, the Russian Patriarch, for help who asked the
Armenian catholicos to plead for return of the commando's body. The
Catholicos did not turn him down, and Karabakh did not argue with
the catholicos and returned Mubariz.
Now that Hakob Injighukyan, Armenian soldier, has been captured by
the Azerbaijanis, the Armenian catholicos and the Russian patriarch
are silent. There was hope that during the visit to Baku Putin would
ask Aliyev to display good will but apparently Putin was too busy.
It is frightening even to think what the Armenian soldier is going
through in captivity. The ministry of defense is undertaking some
steps but the Armenian church is silent. Perhaps he is too busy
because the Armenian Apostolic Church is inevitably moving towards
reforms which may change a lot in the church.
However, Catholicos Garegin II should find a free minute to think
about the destiny of the captured soldier.

PanARMENIAN.Net - A criminal case has been initiated over Armenian serviceman Hakob Injighulyan’s not returning back to his military post under Article 365 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, Defense Ministry spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan said.
"Preliminary investigation has not established legally defined crime in Hakob Injighulyan’s actions. It was proved that Injighulyan found himself on the Azerbaijani-controlled territory over losing his bearings on the terrain, and will not be subject to criminal prosecution upon his repatriation," the Defense Ministry statement said.
On the night of Aug 8, Injighulyan, born in 1991, failed to find his bearings on the ground and crossed into the Azeri-controlled territory. No meeting with the ICRC representatives has been organized so far.

PanARMENIAN.Net - Family members of Armenian soldier Hakob Injighulyan have gathered in front of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Yerevan calling for the organization representatives’ meeting with the captive in Baku.
ICRC delegate Dragana Rankovic met with the captive’s father Gevorg Injighulyan and brother Arman Injighulyan, who later told a PanARMENIAN.Net that “they learned nothing new” but decided to wait for the news at the ICRC premises.
“This is neither a protest nor strike. This is just our decision,” he said.

PanARMENIAN.Net - Despite their mandate and power, members of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Baku have not been granted access to Armenian captive Hakob Injighulyan, the RA Defense Ministry said, voicing concerns over the fact.
The Ministry also said that during the so-called ''interview'' with an Azerbaijani news agency Injighulyan was dressed in Azerbaijani uniform “to understand the difference between the Armenian and Azerbaijani uniforms” which was aimed to put moral and phycological pressure on him and abuse his dignity.
This comes in violation of numerous provisions of Geneva Conventions: Particularly, Article 13 of the Geneva Conventions. (III) constitutes that POWs “…must at all times be protected, particularly against acts of violence or intimidation and against insults and public curiosity” by the detaining power. In other words, the detaining power has to keep a Person under the protection from the curiosity of media and has to prevent the publication of images and videos in which this person can be recognized.
Further, the commentary of Article 27 Geneva Convention (III) states that “…Prisoners may in no case be obliged to wear the uniform of the Detaining Power if they consider that their honor does not so permit”.
Article 7, Geneva Convention (III) says that persons under protection “… in no circumstances renounce in part or in entirety the rights secured to them by the present Convention…”.
“The Armenian authorities have been informed by the ICRC that its Baku office is pursuing its efforts to visit Hakob Gevorg Injighulyan through its ongoing dialogue with the detaining power. Hopefully the ICRC will succeed preventing any unwanted consequences,” the Defense Ministry said, mentioning the deaths of Armenian citizens Gor Manasaryan and Manvel Saribekyan who were killed in Azerbaijani captivity.
The Armenian Commission on POWs, detainees and missing in action expressed concern about the situation and asked the ICRC to strengthen its efforts to visit Injighulyan.

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan’s anti-Armenian propaganda got into a mess once again.
Azeri media outlets revealed the name of the “Armenian soldier who crossed into the Azerbaijani territory together with the captured Hakob Injighulyan and then was blown up by a mine when he tried to escape.”
The second soldier’s name was Armenak Hakobyan, the Azerbaijan Press Agency (APA) said.
The absurd report about the second soldier was immediately refuted by Artsakh defense army spokesman Senor Hasratyan.
Actually, on the night of Aug 8, Injighulyan, born in 1991, failed to find his bearings on the ground and crossed into the Azeri-controlled territory.
Meanwhile, APA says that “after seeing that Azerbaijani shepherds caught Hakob Injighulyan, another soldier, Armenak Hakobyan, tried to escape but was blown up by a mine.”
Following the Azeri logic, two Armenian servicemen passed unnoticed by “dashing” Azerbaijani troops and one of them even managed to do it twice, as he “was blown up by a mine near the Armenian positions.”
Apparently, Azeri news agencies got finally lost in the lies they are spreading.

PanARMENIAN.Net - Directing the “interview” with the captured Armenian serviceman Hakob Injighulyan, the Azerbaijani “specialists” could not avoid failures. In a 30-second video, Injighulyan’s voice is deliberately drowned by the presenter’s. Nevertheless, several words that could be heard were enough to reveal inaccuracies proving that the soldier was under pressure or, possibly, stuffed with psychotropic agents.
In the video spread by Russian-language Azeri media outlets, Injighulyan tells that he was “having dinner with the other soldiers, when the officer ordered him to fetch some water.” “I said that I am tired and will go and bring the water later but he hit me in the eye in response. I could not tolerate humiliation and offence any longer and voluntarily crossed into the Azerbaijani territory,” he allegedly said.
However, the words “I voluntarily crossed into the Azerbaijani territory” did not exist. Injighulyan’s words were interrupted after the phrase “I went to bring some water”.
Apparently, the Russian translation was meant for the Armenian audience. However, the Azeris seem to have forgotten that there are Armenians who know the Azerbaijani language.
There is one more thing. Injighulyan wears glasses. However, during the “interview” he wasn’t wearing them. Was it done to show the bruise caused by the commander’s alleged blow? Here it’s worth noting that manhandling is a punishable crime in the Armenian army. And no officer would risk hitting a soldier, being aware of the consequences.
Besides, who will believe that the Azeris could “resist the temptation” to hit a captured Armenian soldier?
And the last but not least, during the “interview” Injighulyan behaves in a strange way. He moves restlessly and looks very nervous. In short, he doesn’t look like a man who voluntarily crossed the frontline.
Stories with “interviews” are not new in Azerbaijan. On September 11, 2010, Armenian shepherd, resident of Ttujur village of Gegharkunik province Manvel Saribekyan was captured by the Azeri armed forces. Several days later, the same ANS channel aired an interview, which, according to experts, contained elements of psychological and physical pressure. On the night of October 5, Saribekyan allegedly committed suicide. The Azeri investigators said he used his shirt and sheet to hang himself. However, when the body was transferred to the Armenian side, the examination revealed numerous traces of torture.

PanARMENIAN.Net - Family members of the captured Armenian serviceman Hakob Injighulyan have gathered in front of the Yerevan office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to call for prompt measures to promote his release.
Commenting on the ‘interview’ gave to Injighulyan gave to ANS Azeri channel, his father, Gevorg Injighulyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter: “This was nothing but a show organized by Azerbaijan. A son brought up by me could never say such things willfully. He was always pleased the command and the officers were satisfied with his service. He never came into conflict and was granted a leave twice.”
“Now, Hakob is not that in another country, he is in the hands of the enemy,” he added.
Presently, there are some 30 people at the ICRC office.
On the night of Aug 8, Injighulyan, born in 1991, failed to find his bearings on the ground and crossed into the Azeri-controlled territory. Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have not been granted access to the captive yet.

Meanwhile, just a couple of days ago Shahin Sailov, the Secretary of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, said “it was clarified that the Armenian got lost and crossed into the territory controlled by Azerbaijani armed forces.”
“Azerbaijan again resorts to its “favorite” methods. But we would like to repeat once again that our citizen will bear no legal responsibility after he returns to Armenia,” Armenian Defense Ministry’s spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.
It’s worth reminding that on September 11, 2010, Armenian shepherd, resident of Ttujur village of Gegharkunik province Manvel Saribekyan was captured by the Azeri forces.

Yervand jan it's not that simple...
I read most of those articles, it shows how deceptive the Azeries are. The question is since the muslim leader asked the Russian one and got their man out, why not do the same and get our soldier home without paying attention to what he says under duress or what the azeries say.
