Armenia joins World Tourism Organization
Armenia has joined the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) signing Global Code of Ethics for Tourism at a ceremony held in Yerevan today.
Armenia’s Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan, UNWTO Director General Taleb Rifai and representatives of tourism sector participated in the signing ceremony, reports News.am.
The emphasis is on organization of responsible and sustainable tourism. The agreement focuses on the protection of human rights, social-oriented policies, environmental responsibility, and preservation of cultural values. The parties are obliged to use the Code provisions in their work and report on implementation of its provisions to the national government.
The Global Code of Ethics for Tourism was adopted by UNWTO in 1999.
