Hi Alp, since your answer is so innocent, I will have no problem answering. You must understand many here are very skeptical of the Turkish intentions when they post on this forum and want to discuss about the topic.

One side of my family was from Marash, the other side from Van.

Domino, do me a favor, ask the mongrel above from which part of the Middle East (Yemen, Qatar, Saudi Arabia), or wich part of Central Asia (Kirgizstan, Kazakhstan, Azveristan) his ancestors came to Asia Minor and also how his family ended up in Constantinople?

Thanks smile.gif

Gamavor might be a rude little ba*tard most of the time wink.gif , but his last response is sort of similar to my thoughts: my response to Alp would be "let's see yours first", since just saying "a Turk from Istanbul" is meaningless.

before 1910s ..

You are a turk?
What is a turk?
Our ancestors lived in Armenia, the land that some may call eatern Anatolia. Where did yours' live?
Never mind! You are one of the lucky ones living in Istanbul since those iving on our ancetral lands will soon be blown to the moon. After all is that not the dream of every Turk? Why else would they have the moon and the star on their flag? We have Ararat on out emblem and we will soon possess it. You and your kind can have the moon.
In fact, now you can redesign your flag noe and have the map of Europe on it. Moon or Europe, you can all go to "heaven". The sooner the better.

I am just very curious as to why a Turk would come to an Armenian forum, announce that he is a Turk, which you know will not bring good reactions in the first place, and then proceed to ask questions.
You can't be preparing an essay on this forum would you?

I have no problem with a Turk to come here and ask questions on anything beside history(his question concern that)... when this happen it is suspicious.

But it is a little too soon and his question was cute and sounded sincere, so I ask people to please not jump to conclusion right away, afterall, he may have posted that only for personal infromation... he wanted to be maybe sure that the Diasporas root could be traced back to Anatolia.

Domino, I agree with you, but the proper way to introduce oneself is to say "Hi", then you take off your hat (in his case fez), then you ask "May I...", etc.. simple manners. smile.gif

i am a researcher of history and cultures ..

i am trying to understand how our anatolia was like until about 100 years ago.

how was the cultural and ethnic landscape during the late ottoman period ..

i have spent a lot of time studying turkic cultures and iranic cultures.

i want to know more about non-turkic and non-iranic components as well : armenian and greek mostly.

Your Anatolia??? At this point I think we don't have anything to discuss. Go and do your research in Central Asia!

PS: It appears that ordinary chauvinists have better manners than turkish culture researchers. Btw, if you find out what is "turkish" culture please keep us updated!

Hmm... that is kind of weird and unscientific to come in a forum and ask people their roots for that purpouses. You must admit that the level of precision is like trowing a blind dice of few thousands of faces 4 or 5 times, and take the few answers you get to draw a conclusion about the other numbers you can't see.

Beside that, were you expecting that the native Diaspora(native for those from Western historical Armenia) will trace their roots outside of Anatolia?
