As it is known, more than 7000 Armenians were killed in the Soviet Union as a result of executions and inhumane conditions in prisons. The video presents the most well-known 20 Armenians which were victims of the Soviet authorities.

Thank you Mos for the above post. Good to see you,
I cannot find it now. Recently somewhere I saw an article bout the Armenianvictims of the great purge., including but not limited to the likes of Aghasi, Bakunts, Charents, Zabel, Siberia et al.
Scroll down and see the full list with their portraits.

http://hy.wikipedia.org/wiki/1930-ականների_բռնաճնշում

The Great Purge was a series of campaigns of political repression and persecution in the Soviet Union orchestrated against members of the Communist Party, the peasantry, writers and intellectuals, and other unaffiliated persons. In September 1937 Stalin dispatched Anastas Mikoyan, along with Georgy Malenkov and Lavrentiy Beria, with a list of 300 names to Yerevan to oversee the liquidation of the Communist Party of Armenia (CPA), which was largely made up of Old Bolsheviks. Armenian communist leaders such as Vagharshak Ter-Vahanyan and Aghasi Khanjian fell victim to the purge, the former being a defendant at the first of the Moscow Show Trials. Mikoyan tried, but failed, to save one from being executed during his trip to Armenia. That person was arrested during one of his speeches to the CPA by Beria. **Over a thousand people were arrested and seven of nine members of the Armenian Politburo were sacked from office

**The rumor is that in 1953 Mikoyan shot Beria in the head right in the full session of the Duma.
Also see the pro and cons about Anastas Mikoyan here;

*** http://en.wikipedia....Lavrentiy_Beria
I have also heard idle talk that he was jewish. Obviously an anti-semitic rubbish.
]quote]Beria was born in Merkheuli, near Sukhumi, in the Sukhumi district of Kutaisi Governorate (now Gulripshi District, Abkhazia, then part of the Russian Empire). He was a member of the Mingrelian ethnic group and grew up in a Georgian Orthodox family.[3][4][5] Beria's mother, Marta Jaqeli (18681955), was a deeply religious, church-going woman (she spent much time in church and died in a church building);
[/quote]
The only connection is that he, just like Stalin was of Georgian (anti-Armenian?) birth.. Why were all the commissars of the time born in Caucasus, rather than Petrograd or Moscow/Siberia, like Rasputin?
What on earth is Lavrenti? Lawrence/Laurence? Like the Արաբիստանի Լավրենտի/Lavrenti of Arabistan/Lawrence of Arabia?
The one time Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum, prior to Haik Demoyan.

Lavrenti Barseghian=Doctor of historical sciences, professor, academician, he was born in 1937. Supervised several government posts, in particular: the first secretary Spandaryan district of Yerevan, the secretary of the Yerevan city council, deputy managing committee for the restoration and preservation of monuments in ..From 1995 to 2006 was director of the Museum-Institute of Armenian Genocide.
