ԿԱՇԱՌ, ԿԱՇԱՌՔ

Bribe

The Armatakan does not say much, neither does it say about the origin of the word. Except-

“կողմնակցութեան տրուած վարձք’ (gift given to the biased).

The Dictionary of Synonyms has this.

ԿԱՇԱՌ=( Տես Կաշառք)=Կաշառանք, դահամունք, պարգեւ ատամնավարձ, ԿՐԾՈՆ, ԿՏԾՈՆՔ, ԿՐԾՈՒԿ**, ակռաժաժաիկ, ծամելիք, ճողողնք,դ , ակռաժաժիկ, ծամելիք, ՈՍԿՈՐ, քռթամ, քրթամ, քռստանք, ՇԱՆ ՔԸՌԹ

** I had known this word. It is used in the Marash Dialect. i.e “doggy bone”.***

*** Allow me to tell this true (?) story once again that was supposed to have happened in my neck of the woods.
An stationռwagon-ful ****Armenian family was traveling on the highway to Boston. The young father was driving, the patriarch of the clan was in the passenger seat. For whatever reason the State Trooper stops them. License? OK Registration? OK Insurance? OK . Until the patriarch chimes in. “Sa shunin mi voskor nete azating- Սա շանը մի ոսկոր նետէ ազատինք/throw a bone at this dog” The trooper extends his neck into the car and says in Armenian- “Bayts ays shun@ voskor chi krtser/Բայց այս շունը ոսկոր չի կրծեր”.

**** These days we know it as SUV.

PS. What is the etymology of the English word “bribe”?

Definition of BRIBE
1 : money or favor given or promised in order to influence the judgment or conduct of a person in a position of trust
2 : something that serves to induce or influence .
Origin of BRIBE
Middle English, morsel given to a beggar, bribe, from Anglo-French, morsel
First Known Use: 15th century

ԿԱՇԱՌԱԿԵՐՈՒԹԻՒՆ
Bribery- the Law.
An old adage goes- “Laws are made to be broken”.
The following is from the SAE-Hanragitaran that was written towards the end of the Soviet era. We don’t know the current law.
http://hyeforum.com/...=0

http://hyeforum.com/...80

The criminal code, and the punishments.

[ԿԱՇԱՌԱԿԵՐՈՒԹԻՒՆ =Երեք տեսակ յանցագործութիւն, կաշառք ստանալ(article #185), կաշառք տալ(#186), կաշառքի միջնորդ(#185-a).

We will continue in English.
The above quote.

Bribery- Three kinds of crimes of bribery punishable by law. Namely, the receiver #185, the giver #186 and the (go between)agent #185-a

The verdict-punishment.
The receiver/bribee , if found guilty will be sentenced to 3-5 years of jail, confiscation of all property, if found that it is a repeat offence they may be sentenced to 8-15 years, exile and even a death sentence.
The go-between facilitator will get 7-15 years and confiscation of property. Unless they are above and beyond the Law, i.e the Lawmaker, judge or police.
The briber, if found guilty, 3-8 years. However, if it is proven (depending on previous convictions) that they were forced and coerced they will be set free.
A the above article has an aside implying that the disease is practically absent in the Soviet society, that it is primarily a disease of the Bourgeois/Imperialistic regimes. See under-“Կոռուպցիա”.

As to ՅԱՆՑԱՆՔ /Guilt;
http://hyeforum.com/...showtopic=18876

You didn’t ask, but once again from the Hanragitaran
Holier than thou? More Catholic than the Pope? See how it is all blamed on the imperialistic bourgeois society.

Քաքոտը:pooh: ցեխոտին է ծիծաղում

As always, they don't even have the courage to use the Armenian words like pttats/decayed, nekhats//rotten,hotats/smelly”:puh: etc instead they hide behind such obscure Latin words like corrouptsia/corruption. when no one knows the real meaning.

The above monograph is not even worth a“bag of beans/lobi/լոբի”.

Here is what one produces after eating a “bag of lobi beans”

http://www.wayodd.co...g-farts-1c4.jpg

**Where do they get the idea that “corruption” means “այլասերում” which in fact means “alienation”. If we were to go by the Latin/English to “rot” the Armenian would be “փտտիլ/ նեխիլ/նեխում”.
***Haha-Hehe! I thought լոբի/ lobi/լուբիա meant “bean/fasulia”.****
**** At one time some said it is from the Russo-Georgian.. See #s 11 and 12 here;
http://hyeforum.com/...opic=13516&st=0

Definition of CORRUPT
a : to change from good to bad in morals, manners, or actions; also : bribe b : to degrade with unsound principles or moral values
2 : rot, spoil

4 : to alter from the original or correct form or version
---
1 a : to become tainted or rotten b : to become morally debased
