Welcome Sofia,

Out of curiosity, are there significant difference between Artsakh dialect and other common dialects?

Hi to everybody,thanks for warm greetings.
I,m really glad to join you. Occasionally i found
this forum,i saw that there are a lot of intelligent themes here.
As for the topic i posted i just read in archives of the forum,where
shortly the artsakh dialect was under discussion.There somebody tried
to prove that dialects are different languages.So this motivated me to speak about it.
The difference between armenian dialects is significant.Of course there are common things.
But all in all they differ much, structure,phonetics,lexics -so that in the end one can be very
much confused.It happened only,because they were all developing under different circumstances.
Speaking concretly of artsakh dialect,it,s known as very old ,but it was always under
foreign influence-first Persian,then Russian,then Azeri.So there are lots of borrowings.
But which language is pure? Actually, artsakhi barbar exists without foreign words.My
grandparents were speaking so.
Artsakhi barbar reminds "grakan hayeren" with certain changes.I know a lot of people
from Erevan,which were horrified hearing the speach and not catching anything,but
in a week of staying were able to understang everything.It is easy.
I can make a paralell to German with it,s dialects.Germans speaking high german
don,t understand bavarian german or swiss german,but theoretiacally they can if
they make a little effort.
--------
P.S.Well, a detailed answer to your question ,VAVA,demands more scientific approach.
I will try to find more info.

Hi,
ready to answer any questions reffering Artsakh dialect of Armenian.

Բարա իկիր Սոֆիա!!
Is that right? I just made it up as I can’t find words of welcome in Arsakheren .

Some gems from a book I have;
ՆՇԽԱՐՆԵՐ ԱՐՑԱԽԻ ԲԱՆԱՀՅՈՒՍՈՒԹՅԱՆ
Some I can understand, many I can’t.
Alphabetically the first of the Ասացվացքներ ) լուզու is spelled with the diacritical mark that I cannot reproduce indicating that it sounds like the French or German U.

This is relatively simple;

Ա լուզու սուս ըրա, թա չէ Շուշի կքյնիս:
Here is another one. I can’t completely make out;
Ախճըկանը վեր պծոց թակիս վուչ, մծոց ծոձնըդ կթակիս:
I can make “akhjkan”= girl, “vեr”=(v)or թակիս=hit ,strike??
Also note that they use k@-կըas in western Armenian v eastern “oum”.

A joke;
ՊԱ ՔՈՒ ԸՐԱԶՈՎՄԴ?

Մին մարթ ըրազումը տեսնում ա կնեկը ուրուշու նհետ սիլի-բիլի ա անում: Զուրթնանում ա, կնկանն էլ զոըրթուցընում, սկսում վեր թակելը:
-Շան քած, վեր իմ ըրազումս տի յըս անում, պա քու ըրազումդ հինչ կանիս?

I totally understand the above. Once again note that the “ou” are umlauted.

Here is one I son’t understand;

ՏԵՍՆԱՍ ՀԻՆՉ ԴԱՐԴ ՕՆԵ

Խասա այան բղավուր մրքավուր մին ջահիլ ա տեսնում ծույնանը թխում.
-Պաշշ, տեսնաս հինչ? դարդ օնե վեր իրեսը վեր չի անում:
Note
;
The A in դարդ/dard is also umlauted to sound like “derd”.
Oh,oh!
Never mind. I just got it!
See if anyone else gets it.

Ayo, tsav@d tanem Sireli Sofia.
First off, welcome.

ONLY IN ARMENIA!!
Why can't we click on a site without the warnig; "Note, this site is designed by Kakotian, to see the the text, plese click on ..."
How many "kakotians" can we have?
You think there ought to be law?
Did Armenians invent "Lawnesness/anarchy"?

When 5 billion English speakers can read the font, it takes 6 million Armenian geniuses to create 1000 million fonts that are illegible to the next person.
We created one of the first modern alphabets yet, we seem to be compelled to endure the whims of every Thomas, Tigran ev Harut (Tom Dick and Harry) to whom an Ayb is only a variant of the English W designs a system.

THERE OUGHT TO BE A LAW!
SHUNSHANORDI!!
And I mean a LAW to break the fingers of those who design these so called "uni-codeTarumian/kakumian, NLS, Papazian(Sre they Armenian? with a name like that "papaz", what the hell, is a "papaz"?, is he Armenian, a pejorative Turkish to allude to an Armenian Priest, yet many of us take pride in having such surnames, take for example , the priest Fr. Tiran Papazian.
And whatever the hell other fonts!!
"UNI"? Is it like "ban-chi-UNI"?
Dammit!!!Why can't we have ONE universal system that all of us can read???
Are we, a mere two million better than 5 billion English speakers?
Curses, and more curses!!!
If only I were a king I would know which fingers to break!!!
Let me nominate Mustafa as king of Armenia. The Mustafa who had no compunctions to hang the first person who used insulting sur-names and opposed latinization.
DAMMIT!
LET'S HAVE ONE FONT AND ONE TRANSLITERATION!!!
