PRESIDENT OF ARMENIA WELCOMES NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN THE LEADERS OF SOUTHERN AND NORTHERN KOREA.
14.06.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. "Armenia is watching closely the last developments in Korea and welcomes the fact of starting negotiations between the leaders of Southern and Northern Korea".
As was reported to MEDIAMAX in the press service of the president of Armenia, today the president of Armenia Robert Kocharian declared this at the meeting with the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Republic of Korea Lee Jey John ( the residence is in Moscow), who arrived in Yerevan to present his credentials.
The ambassador of Korea declared of the readiness of his country to enlarge close fraternal relations with Armenia and stressed that he will make every possible effort for development and consolidation of bilateral relations.
Robert Kocharian noted that Armenian-Korean relations are rather dynamic and the begun active contacts give hope for the development of a more effective bilateral cooperation.
According to Kocharian, the post-war restoration of economy and the settlement of social questions in Korea are very impressive.
President Kocharian noted the importance of enlarging trade-economic relations between the two countries, in particular, the importance of applying Korean capital in the Armenian economy was stressed. The president said that Armenia pursues the policy "open doors". The interlocutors gave much importance to the formation of legal field which will promote mutually beneficiary cooperation. -0-
