Agricultural and food industry products, juice and drinking water, and cigarettes are exported to Iraq; the list soon may include IT services, jewelry, construction and other areas.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 6, ARMENPRESS. The Republic of Armenia may provide programming products to Iraq. The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Armen Gevorgyan stated it at the press conference with his counterpart of Iraq Nuri Shaways held on November 6. "In addition to the finished products, Armenia can export also services to Iraq. In  particular, I mean the various products in programming. Today we have a similar experiment when the Armenian companies deliver such
services for the Government of Iraq," the Deputy Prime Minister stated as reported by Armenpress.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Armen Gevorgyan the Armenian organizations are interested in the participation of the modernization of the energetic powers of Iraq.

Armen Gevorgyan sees possibilities in delivering construction services as well. He pointed out that agricultural and food industry products, juice and drinking water, as well as a great quantity of cigarettes are exported from Armenia to Iraq. Gevorgyan assures that the variety of the exported goods can be expanded including jewelry, construction and other areas.

Armenia had great commerce with Iraq or Mesopotamia since very ancient times. Armenians taught the ancient people of Iraq how to make baked bricks from mud, after which its people started building temples & cities made mostly by baked bricks.

ARMENIA CAN BRIDGE IRAQ WITH CUSTOMS UNION: PREMIER

YEREVAN, November 7, 2013. /ARKA/. Armenia can bridge Iraq with Customs Union member countries, Armenia's premier Tigran Sargsyan said at his meeting with Iraqi vice-premier Roz Nuri Shawees, the government press office reported.

Armenia holds interest in development of its bilateral relations with Iraq, the premier said. According to Sargsyan, the considerable increase in turnover between the countries over the last year shows there is great potential for development.

Vice-premier Shawees, in his turn, congratulated Armenia on accession to the CU and said Iraq is interested in expansion of ties with Armenia. Iraqi delegation, Shawees said, consists of businessmen who want to establish links with Armenian entrepreneurs.

The sides stressed the importance of direct flights between the countries and a simplified visa regime. They said both countries are interested in construction sector.

According to ArmStat, Armenian exports to Iraq amounted to 15.7 million dollars in 2012.

According to Armenia's vice-premier and co-chair of Armenia-Iraq intergovernmental commission Armen Gevorgyan, Armenian exports to Iraq amounted to about 30 million dollars in nine months of this year.
