Via Wikipedia:

Steve Jobs was born in San Francisco[1] to American Joanne Carole Schieble and Syrian Abdulfattah John Jandali, a graduate student who later became a political science professor.[9] One week after birth, Jobs was put up for adoption by his unmarried mother, who was also in graduate school. He was adopted by Paul and Clara (née Hagopian) Jobs of Mountain View, Santa Clara County, California. They gave him the name Steven Paul Jobs. His biological parents later married and gave birth to Jobs' sister, the novelist Mona Simpson, whom Jobs did not meet until they were adults. The marriage of his biological parents ended in divorce years later. Jobs dislikes hearing the "adoptive parents" appellation applied to Paul and Clara Jobs and refers to them as his only parents.

So his adoptive mother is probably Armenian? Interesting! wink.gif

RIP Steve (Apple) Hagopian/Jobs.
So young, so tragic. Did not even enjoy the “fruits” of his genius. You deserve that big Apple Orchard in heaven.

Steve Jobs Was an Arab American
By Shirin Sadeghi

Abdul Fattah Jandali, a young Syrian Muslim (from Homs)immigrant in Wisconsin, never met his son Steve Jobs. When a baby was born to the 23-year-old Jandali -- now known as John -- and his 23-year-old German-American girlfriend, Joanne Schieble, in 1955, there was no chance he'd be able to grow up with his biological …

Report: Steve Jobs' adoptive Armenian mother has Anatolian roots.
A biography of Silicon Valley legend Steve Jobs, set to be released in November, reveals that the woman who raised the legendary head of the Apple Company was the daughter of an Armenian family who immigrated** to the US from Turkey's Malatya, the Milliyet daily reported on Tuesday.
Jobs, who has recently resigned as chief executive of Apple Inc. in a stunning move that ended his 14-year reign at the technology giant he co-founded in a garage, is known to have been brought up by a woman of Armenian origin, Clara Jobs (née Hagopian) and Paul Jobs as an infant. Milliyet reported that the book titled “Steve Jobs: A Biography by Walter Isaacson” reveals an interesting detail about Job's adoptive mother as it says Clara Jobs is the daughter of an Armenian family who immigrated to the US from Turkey's Malatya province following the 1915 incidents during the World War I in Ottoman territories that resulted in the deaths of many Armenians. The book reportedly says Clara's father Louis Hagopian was born in Malatya in 1894 and her mother Victoria Artinian was born in İzmir in 1894.

** Yes, of course, she “immigrated” on a luxury jetliner. Read some of the comments at the above site , many of which question the terms like “immigration” and “incidents”.

Little known trivia about Steve Jobs. and his sojourn in India, experimenting with Buddhism and LSD, and why he named his “toy” Apple.
http://zeenews.india...ion_735256.html

The tryst with India for this college dropout happened somewhere around the 1970s. Jobs floated through India in the mid 70s in search of spiritual guidance prior to founding Apple. It is believed that he suggested the name to his friend and co-founder Steve Wozniak after a visit to a commune in Oregon he referred to as an "apple orchard“

Another legend I heard, is when in India he went unshaven and unbathed for long times and that he went on an “apple“ diet to avoid having to bathe.

How true is this? Has anyone heard him speak Armenian, or acknowledge?
Did his “mother” Ms. Hagopian cook Armenian dishes?
Above I placed “mother” in quotes, as I read somewhere that he would be annoyed when his parents were described as “adoptive” , and that he would say “They are the only parents I have had”.
Also note that the below news is from Arabic sources.
Who and what is Khabararmani.com?

Steve Jobs spoke fluent Armenian

15:06 - 06.10.11
Apple CEO Steve jobs who, passed away on Wednesday at age 56, is said
to have had a good command of the Armenian language.

Conducting a probe into the great legend's biography, the Arab
language website Khabararmani.com
has found out that Jobs, who was
raised in the family of an Armenian mother and an American father,
spoke Armenian fluently.

"[Jobs' adoptive mother] Claire Hagopian played a very big role in
bringing up the genius," the website said, adding that Jobs had never
been keen to speak about his biological parents.

Jobs was born in San Francisco and was adopted by the family of Paul
and Clara Jobs (née Hagopian) of Mountain View, California. Paul and
Clara later adopted a daughter, Patti. Jobs' biological parents -
Abdulfattah John Jandali, a Muslim Syrian immigrant to the U.S from
Homs, who later became a political science professor, and Joanne
Schieble (later Simpson), an American graduate student who went on to
become a speech language pathologist - eventually married. Together,
they gave birth to and raised Jobs' biological sister, novelist Mona
Simpson.

Jobs experimented with different pursuits before starting Apple
Computers with Stephen Wozniak in the Jobs' family garage. Apple's
revolutionary products, which include the iPod, iPhone and iPad, are
now seen as dictating the evolution of modern technology.

A book about Job's is coming soon. iSteve: The Book of Jobs, authored
by a former CNN CEO and an editor of the British Times, Walter
Isaacson, is the first official biography of the Apple legend.

We also read in that same site this;

The first book featuring the biography of American business magnate and inventor, chief executive officer of the Apple Inc, Steve Jobs is to arrive in early 2012.

Up until recently, Jobs kept biography secret, asking others not to meddle with his private life. Before taking a leave on health grounds (Jobs suffers from cancers), the Apple CEO left a note to his employees, asking them not to disturb his family or intrude his privacy.

The contents of the book have not yet been made public. The author has reportedly talked to Jobs' family members and colleagues.

Steve Jobs was born in 1955 in Mountain View, California. His biological parents are reported to be Syrian immigrants. But a week after his birth, an Armenian mother, Claire Hakobyan, and an American father, Paul Jobser, adopted Steve.

Jobs says they are his real parents

If you ask Mosjan jan, he'll probably prefer apricot instead of apple. Which one is apricot in Armenian? Tsiran?

And Mashtots for Macintosh. Those early Grabar fonts might have inspired him, too.

Let’s lay another fable to rest. Aside from Gregor- y- Peck-ian being Armenian and that Vardan Mamikonean a Chinese. Not to forget that the Bagrat-jewni-s were yewish. :jester: :goof:
From above;

Steve Jobs spoke fluent Armenian?

 Oh yeah!
See what Isaacson says below.

LK: Well, better than just fine. Could I just ask you just one question that the readers asked? They asked about his Armenian heritage. Did he speak Armenian?
WI:-No. His mother was a refugee from Armenia. Clara Jobs was an Armenian refugee but her parents came over and as far as I know Steve never spoke any Armenian.
