ՇԱՄՓՈՒՐSkewer

At times also spelled ՇամփուՌ/ShampouRR,

Խորուածի Համար

Skewer, Shish

I was reading some old posts when I ran across this where someone brought this subject of shashlik, assuming that it is an exclusively Russian word and invention. The “lik” **ending is grammatically furkish.

See @52 here.

Here wew will see that it is a furko Persian word “shishlik” Where shish means skewer, shampour in Armenian.

ՇԱՄՓՈՒՐ Երկաթեայ կամ փայտեայ սուր ձողիկ խոուածի շիշSharpned Wooden , or iron stick foe barbeque.

At times shampur also means sword or bayonet.

Both, Ajarian and Malkaasiants say that it is from the Sanskrit (to mean poker (no not the card game), that it is an iron rod to poke the fire.

Another Topic? History? Mythology?

http://armenianhouse.org/harutyunyan/07-persian-war-a.html

While reading about shampour I remembered a legend. When the guards caught up with the treacherous Anak, king Khosrov’s assassin , they wrapped a red hot shampur around his head and said- “There, now we crown you as king”.

Anak was the father of Grigor Pahlav, later known as Loussavorich.

How does one sort out Armenian Mythology from History?

**Upon further musings, it dawned on m that the adjective/,ածական adverb/ մակբայforming suffix “lik” may in fact be of Armenian origin.. See Ասելիք, անելիք Շամփուրելիք, Պարապ Վախթի ԽաղաԼԻՔ

What is the difference of adjective/,ածական and adverb/ մակբայ??
