I want peace on borders: Iveta Mukuchyan asked about Artsakh flag at Eurovision
Iveta-press-conference-620x300.jpg

What Armenia wants is just peace, Armenia’s Iveta Mukuchyan told the Winners’ press conference, when asked about the Karabakh flag she took to the Green Room.

“My heart, my thoughts, my feelings and my emotions are with my Motherland. I just want peace on the borders. Armenia wants just peace. That’s why I wrote this song. I just want to spread love waves,” Iveta  said.

“I put up the flag because I want people to concentrate on that. I just want peace in this world,” she added.

Speaking bout the contest, Iveta Mukuchyan said: “You always dream of this situation, and then suddenly it’s reality! Everyone told me that I would make it but when you sit there you cannot believe that it is actually happening. But the whole thing was just too short – only three minutes! That was what I thought.”

She continued to explain her emotions: “I never take anything for granted, and that’s why I feel like this right now. When I get old, I wanna remember everything of this situation, I am really thankful for everyone who made this happen.”

Armenia was drawn to perform in the second half of the Grand Final.

Armenia to face sanctions for Eurovision flag incident
Originally published May 11, 2016 at 8:04 am

STOCKHOLM (AP) — Eurovision Song Contest officials have condemned Armenia’s contestant for brandishing the flag of the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Armenian singer Iveta Mukuchyan waved the flag during a qualifying event late Tuesday. The separatist region is officially part of Azerbaijan but currently is under the control of local ethnic Armenian forces.

The European Broadcasting Union, the alliance of public broadcasters that produces the annual contest, on Wednesday called the incident a “serious breach” of its ban on political messages.

It said Armenia’s public broadcaster would face yet-to-be-determined sanctions and that “any further breach of the rules of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest could lead to disqualification from this year’s event or any successive editions.

Armenian Ambassador disappointed over EBU statement

POLITICS 20:15 12/05/2016 REGION

Armenian Ambassador to Sweden Artak Apitonyan gave interview to
Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, reflecting on the Eurovision 2016
Armenian representative Iveta Mukuchyan’s demonstration of the Nagorno
Karabakh Republic flag in the live transmission of the first
semi-final as well as the following statement by the organizers of the
song contest.

The paper writes that the demonstration of the flag resulted in a
political controversy, while the Armenian Ambassador slamming the
decision by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), producer of the
Eurovision Song Contest.

To remind, on May 11, the EBU issued a statement, condemning Iveta
Mukuchyan’s actions and announcing sanctions handed down to AMPTV to
be decided at the next meeting of the Eurovision Reference Group in
June. EBU also warned that Armenia could be disqualified for a further
breach of the rule this year.

“I am quite disappointed over the decision. The incident was
inappropriately exaggerated. Getting back to Iveta’s press conference,
it turns out that the singer waved the flag out of merely humanitarian
considerations,” Apitonyan told as quoted by the Swedish paper.

The Ambassador further argued that the incident was indeed politicized
after the speech by Deputy Director of the Azerbaijani TV Company, who
was the one who delivered an imbalanced and excited political speech.”

Asked whether the April escalation around the Nagorno Karabakh was a
factor which added sensitivity to the fact of waving the flag,
Apitonyan noted: “Quite the opposite, the escalation of the conflict
makes it urgent to raise humanitarian issues. We should consider that
as well.”

To Apitonyan, the European Broadcasting Union succumbed to the
pressure by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, while EBU event manager
Sieste Bakker dismissed the claim, suggesting the EBU decision was in
line with democratic principals.

“With all due respect to the Ambassador, I do not share his views and
hope he will consider our divergences,” Mrs. Bakker told, recalling
the EBU statement calling the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh as
tense and therefore the appearance of the flag viewed as a serious
breach of Rule 1.2.2h of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. The
relative rule states, "no messages promoting any organization,
institution, political cause or other, company, brand, products or
services shall be allowed in the Shows".

"Eurovision victor Jamala has revealed the agonising price of her family's return to Crimea after being banished from the Black Sea peninsula by Soviet dictator Stalin - her parents were forced to divorce.

They had to separate - despite being in love - to fool the Soviet authorities which barred her father Alim Jamaladynov, an ethnic Tatar, from buying property in his Crimean homeland.

The couple were forced to live 185 miles apart for four years, but the painful separation eventually allowed her ethnic Armenian mother Galina to buy a home for the family, and realise their long-held dream of returning to their Crimean homeland as the USSR collapsed.

It was just the latest chapter in a family history riven with trauma and anguish.

Jamala's great-grandmother was forcibly deported from the Black Sea to the city of Osh in Soviet Kyrgyzstan during the Second World War with her five children. Her baby daughter died on the way.

So called Eurovision, as Arpa would have called it Vorovision allows Ukrainian song about deportation which is a political statement but asked Armenia to change the title of the song about the Genocide last year and gave hard time for waving the Artsakh flag this year. What a bunch of spineless cowards.

Jamala: After "1944," a song "1915" at Eurovision?

Published: 17-05-2016

I bet erDOGan didn't know about her Armenian mother!

Info Collectif VAN -www.collectifvan.org - The Ukrainian candidate
Jamala, won Saturday, May 14, 2016, the 61st Eurovision Song Contest
with its amazing song "1944" which deals with the deportation of
Crimean Tatars by Stalin. She was inspired by stories of his
great-great grandmother, who lived this tragic episode in the history
Soviet. The good news is that Armenia will now
to present a song called "1915" without the
organizers can to oppose a settlement "apolitical".

Recall that last year, Armenia was forced to change his
title "Do not deny" presented at the Genocide Centennial
Armenian 1915 (a still denied by the Turkish state genocide) in "Face
the shadow ", a qualification deemed less controversial but was nevertheless
diplomatically shunned by jurors. Conversely, it is reasonable to
wonder if Jamala has not been induced to change the original title
( "Souls") - that could suit all deportations and therefore
Also the Armenian Genocide - in "1944" so that the guilty (the
Soviet Russia) or implicitly identified and his heir,
Tsar Putin is clearly challenged for his actions in Ukraine
and Crimea.

Oddly, crumple the Turkey (which involved
Yet more at Eurovision since 2013) would be much more
problematic that to attack Russia, a political act
visibly encouraged by a supposedly apolitical Eurovision.

Erdogan, the Turkish mega Putin that since summer 2015 bombards
Kurdish cities of Anatolia with impunity and deported in the
populations, known to count each day a little more about
complacency of Europe sing in Turkish during the qu'agonise
Kurdish people, the very one which is nevertheless the only fight Daech
ground, the other side of the Syrian and Iraqi borders.

Jamala-Susana or the weight of a doubly tragic family history

Pending a song "1915" will not be long now,
recall that the Ukrainian winner (his real name, Susana
Jamaladinova) is not only Tatar by his father, but also
Armenian by her mother whose own parents were deported from
Karabakh to Kyrgyzstan. Jamala-door Susana and its
shoulders the weight of a family history doubly tragic, without
mention the fact that the deportation inflicted on 191,014 Tatars
Crimea by Stalin to punish collectively collaboration
some of them with Nazi Germany, was also
applied indiscriminately to other peoples of Crimea, 20
000 Armenians ...

What the friendly and talented Jamala can not ignore is that
Tatars (a Turkish ethnic group) were not left in
the extermination of Armenians in Turkey. Indeed, fleeing wars
Crimean which opposed the Ottoman Empire the Russian Empire from 1792 to
1853 thousands of Tatars found refuge in Turkey where as
Circassians and Chechens come to their part of the Caucasus,
they participated wholeheartedly - in the name of pan-Turkish solidarity and
Pan-Islamic - the various ethnic cleansings against
Christian populations. At present, half of the movement
Tatar associations of Turkey is deemed close groups
Turkish ultranationalists, which does not bode well for
progressive crossing their path.

But the Crimean Tatars have not only chosen the idyllic
Turkey as a destination; they also migrated from the 18th
century to the Caucasus, where they joined the Caucasian Tatars and
were "re-baptized" with them from 1918 and a tower
magic trick, ... "Azerbaijanis".

Whatever their name, Tatars in 1905 - or Azeris in 1918, 1988
1990, 1992 - all massacred Armenians and blithely continue
in 2016 to want to exterminate the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, and even -
let's be crazy - to expel all Armenians in the Caucasus.

These problematic interference between Tatar and Armenian peoples
probably explain the exasperated reactions of some users
Armenians about delivering Jamala: many of them have
were shocked to find that the duduk - Armenian national instrument
used to transcribe in all their dimensions and the soul
pain of the Armenian people - has been used to accompany Jamala,
in a work sung partly in Turkish, and dedicated to the Tatars,
accomplices of Turkish genocidal ...

For our part, we believe that the duduk is an integral part of
Jamala's legacy that feels much * that Armenian Tatar (apart
the fact that it has chosen the religion of his father). We do not exclude
also not likely that his first intention was to
dedicating his song "Souls" to all victims of deportations ...

One thing is certain: with or without duduk, suffering much

opposite. Thus, the candidate of Armenia, Iveta Muchukyan, suffered
the wrath of the organizers for waving in the Green Room a

After the semi-final of Eurovision.

Recall that the Armenian enclave (cynically offered to
Azerbaijan in 1921 by the villain Stalin deported them also
Tatars in 1944, you follow?) Is again exposed since early
April in the military and racist aggression of Azerbaijan, a country
Turkic - as he defines himself - led with an iron hand by
Ilham Aliyev. This amiable president appointed "Armenians
world "as" enemies "of his beautiful country (a country that would
more beautiful if the Armenian religious architectural heritage are
had been reduced to almost nil).

To return to this junk Stalin and his joke about
the enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh, we must believe that all his misdeeds will
are not worthy to be pinned in "Eurovision Song" or
even being recalled by a simple flag waved a victory tonight.
From there to see an effect of European policy, there is not a

Yet Eurovision gentlemen, today we have to be
