On November 28th, 2013, Armenia Fund’s 16th International Telethon to put northern regions in the spotlight. But you do not have to wait for 28th the Thanksgiving Day holiday, you can go to the site now or anytime and make your donation early :
http://armeniafundus...19-telethon.htm
In the site there is the a list of TV stations and channel guides, and times, of each state where the telethon will be aired live.
A donation of $365 will cover the cost of construction of 1.5 meters of the new highway.

The road from Vardenis in Armenia to Mardakert in Karabakh, totals 117 kilometers (72 miles), estimated cost $30M. Over 150,000 residents and 30 communities stand to benefit from the new highway. It covers such varied terrain that there are multiple construction, engineering, and public safety challenges involved. There is a significant stretch of unpaved, dirt-covered road that changes dramatically in width at different intervals and involves as many as 16 bridges and overpasses, 339 sharp turns, 17 of which are serpentine configurations. Other sections have been partially blocked due to landslides or river swells, adding to the hazardous conditions. Finally, new road signage, protective barriers and other modern standards of road safety must be installed to meet current safety standards and government regulations. The constructor will provide 5-year warranty for the road.

Building an alternate route between Armenia and Karabakh is the designated campaign theme of the upcoming Armenia Fund’s 16th International Thanksgiving Day Telethon. The goal of this massive public works effort is to turn the roads that currently link a string of strategically important towns in northern Armenia and northern Karabakh into a modern highway system. The new route is projected to promote trade, cooperation, and economic development among vulnerable border communities that are vital to national security.

For the president of Armenian-Fund-of-France, Bedros Terzian, " once more, nor the economic crisis or political uncertainty could not start the unwavering commitment of our volunteers and donors to the population of Armenia, Karabakh and their brothers and sisters in Syria. In this year of 2013, their dedication and generosity, France, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Belgium, as in all countries where the Armenian Fund is established, they send a strong message of hope for the future."

Thousands of families will benefit from the projects that these gifts will achieve: agricultural development in Armenia; rural social welfare centers in Karabakh; road construction Vardenis - Mardakert, support to Armenian schools in Syria.

[Armenia do have oil & gas in their homeland like azerbaijan to finance freely projects but they do have hears to give, and by giving their heart get bigger while the Azeri heart get smaller because they rely on oil & gas and not on themselves and their human abilities to donate by the sweat of they work; Azeris end up being lazy].

En Route Artsakh: 2013 Thanksgiving Day telethon secures more than $22.6m for major Karabakh road

http://armenianow.co...3_hayastan_fund

Nov 29.13

An annual telethon broadcast from Los Angeles late on Thursday and early Friday has raised more than $22.6 million in donations and pledges in favor of a major road project to connect Armenia and Karabakh.

The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund will spend the money raised through the traditional Thanksgiving Day event held for the 16th time for the construction of a 116-km Vardenis-Martakert highway, which is of great social and economic importance for the two Armenian republics.

About 1.5 million Euros (almost $2 million) were pledged by Armenians around Europe in a preceding Phoneathon held on 21-24 November.

Last year’s “Our Village” Telethon raised $21.5 in donations and pledges. The funds helped construct community centers in rural regions of Karabakh and provide solutions to the critical issues of clean drinking water and irrigation water.
