HOVHANES AYVAZOVSKY'S PAINTING TO BE DISPLAYED IN YEREVAN
YEREVAN, JANUARY 10, ARMENPRESS:
One of the best paintings of the world famous painter of sea-scapes Hovhanes Ayvazian (Ivan Ayvazovsky), called 'Chaos, Creation of Universe,' will be displayed in Yerevan for five months within the framework of a jubilee exhibition devoted to 1700th anniversary of Christianity adoption by Armenians.
The painting was purchased during Ayvazovsky's lifetime by Pope Grigoris 16th, but 60 years later, in 1901 it was presented to Armenian Congregation of Mkhetarists in Venice in connection with the latter's 200th anniversary.
