Anna Astvatsaturian Turcotte is a writer and lecturer. She is also an Armenian refugee from Baku, Azerbaijan. In 2012, Anna published her book, Nowhere, a Story of Exile, which she wrote at the age of 14 in the form of diaries. In April 2013, she successfully spearheaded the Nagorno-Karabagh recognition efforts at the State of Maine House of Representatives. In 2013, she was awarded the Mkhitar Gosh Medal by President Serge Sarkisian, and a Gratitude Medal from Karabagh President Bako Sahakyan. Anna received her bachelor of arts degrees in English and literature and in philosophy and religion, along with a minor in Russian language and literature, from the University of NorthDakota in 2000. She received her juris doctor degree from the University of Maine’s School of Law in 2003. Armenia, Nagorno-Karabagh, the ICC, and human rights issues are Anna’s lifelong passions. She currently works in banking regulatory reform and lives in Maine with her husband and their son and daughter.
