They're not really famous but here are some custom knife makers who I believe are Armenians.

Very nice pictures! My favorite are the following:

the B5-TGD, B9-I, B7-ID and the B05-IZD.

I also loved Edward Kalfayan's knives.

They're all beautiful pictures really, how crafty they are. smile.gif

The William Henry designs are stunning.

I never use it.

Anyway, Kalfayan's knives are friggn' awesome and I would love to have one. They're very simple yet beautiful.

first became interested in making knives in 1972 and seven years later became South Africa's first professional knife maker. In 1980 I was involved in founding the Knifemaker's Guild of Southern Africa and was chairman of the organization for 10 years. My attention was drawn to the international knife making scene and I have exhibited annually in the US since 1982. On a less regular basis I have exhibited in France Germany, Switzerland and Italy

In 1999 my family and I moved from South Africa to Denver, Colorado where I spent two years working for Spyderco both in their research and development department and running their Golden factory before returning to full time knife making.

Interesting. He worked for Spyderco.

Those knives are fantastic, especially the one with Stephanyan's engravings.

I'm going on his site to see if Owen Wood makes his own Damascus steel because that is beautifully crafted.

"Although I do make an occasional blade in carbon or stainless steel, I primarily use either stainless Damascus, or carbon Damascus of my own making. I started forging Damascus in 1987 having learned the basic technique from Sid Birt. I have developed some unique composite blades, which are easily recognizable. In achieving this I have stressed the use of particular patterns to accentuate the design of the knife as a whole rather than complex pattern for its own sake. These blades incorporate two, three or even four bars of different patterns."

Damascus or carbon Damascus it's becoming popular - 10 years or so mostly in USA you can find many masters perfecting the lost art of forging the way it was don 1000 years a go

I love Damascus steel. I have a couple of nice Japanese Ryusen kitchen knives that have carbon steel Damascus blades.

I would love to own such a beautiful knife. It's one of the best looking one, although there are many others that are awesome too, like Kalfayans and the William Henry designs. They're great looking knives. A piece of real art.
