ՑԱՆԿԱԼԻ, ՑԱՆԿԵԱԼ
DESIRABLE

A correction if I may.
Above Stormig posed this question.
And I answered. I should have looked further and deeper.Hripsime comes from Greek? How so?
I dont remember where I saw that անկեալfallen. I erroneously took it at face value. All is said about Hripsime is that is from the Greek and that it means "ankyal/angyal","fallen". I have no idea about its etymology.
Fallen? I was not totally convinced at the time.
As always, our allergy to words and names beginning with the letter R we add H or some other, as in Rome-Hrom etc. The Greek RIPHSIMA becomes H-Ripsimeh.
I had relied on the following
http://armenian.name...=term&d=2&t=581
Note that the Greek PH- PHI- Փ is the same as the Armenian Փ to sound like F.
As above I was never satisfied with that fallen thing, and after long musings and search I found where it came from. Whoever that half baked scholar was , they totally missed and ignored the opening letter Ց in ՑԱՆԿԵԱԼ***=DESIRABLE. Yearnful and dwelt on ԱՆԿԵԱԼ=FALLEN.HRIPSIMEH =The historian Agatangeghos first mentioned this name. According to Yeremia it means "great advice" or "desirable". The coll. form of this name Horomsim makes possible the connection of it with Hrom "Rome"(St. Hripsimeh whose temple is in Echmiadzin was from Rome). It is a spread name. The short forms are Hripsik, Hrip.
Or did they see it here?

Where Agathangelos plays with words. Where he says, it may have been from Greek to mean ՆԵՏԵԼto throw, to be felled by an arrow. **

Bow and Arrow ԱՂԵՂ եւ ՆԵՏIn the Armenian, the BOW is known as ԱՂԵՂ/Aghegh
Why?
Is it because the string of the bow was made of animal intestines ԱՂԻ--ԱՂԻՔ,aghi-(plural) aghiq?***
***See Khash, which beside it being from the legs of animals is also at times prepared from the innards (stomach and intestines) .
Why is the right hand tool in violin called BOW/ԱՂԵՂ?
