(There is also correspondence (e-mail) chess for which I have a very nice program but it's not as exciting as online chess of course. )

I tried the instantchess, but I need to download this JAVA plugin first and I'm not sure if I want to. Temporarily I'm on this prehistoric computer that only has the ICC chess software installed. I do not want to overburdain this granny. So if you want to meet me at ICC instead send me a pms to set a date and time so you slaughter me.
Actually, I'm sure that more people here play chess and I know a free chess program that connects you through ICQ to play realtime games with each other. So even a little private forum chessclub would be possible. Is that an idea? I could ask the creator of the program (who stopped developping it at some point) for permission to improve and adjust it a little with the garantee that it won't be used for commercial purposes. Maybe one of the programmers on the forum would like to take the job on as a challenge?

Gamavor is a person who still ponders over the question "Why my chess rating cannot go over 1600"!

But so you went up to almost 1600. That's half a grandmasters level. Not bad for a gamavor.

I'm not in need to find chess partners. I have been a member of the ICC for some years now and I expect to be for many more. Through ICC I can play chess with it's 35.000 members (and many anonymous guests) of all levels from all over the world, including (grand)masters, take lessons from them, watch and analyse games, chat, etc.
It was through this ICC, so through chess, that I came in contact with 'the Armenian'.
Armenia and chess seem to be each others loyal partners. A long time ago, somewhere on internet I read in a Dutch text: "Armenia is a chess country".
I am convinced, still, that titled Armenian players could also have the function of being some sort of ambassadors for Armenia, if... Well, I would be interested, but I'm not Armenian and my chess sucks.
I was thinking of chess as a mean for forum members who share this interest to meet in a different way.
The Hye Forum is an internet community. The members may not ever see or meet each other in real life. They meet on the forum and talk, fight or joke. So why not add "play" to that. Chess in this case would be very appropriate I think.
I already mentioned a free program, called Buddy Chess, that will list and connect other online Buddy Chessers who are using ICQ. A while ago I tried it out with a friend and it worked. If you would like to test it, you'll find it somewhere on the ECtool site. (Sorry, the old computer I'm using at the moment doesn't let me get to the exact location.)
Andres Valverde from Spain started developing (free) correspondence chess program(s) years ago because, as a chess lover, he wanted to make it possible for anyone to play chess over internet for free. His Buddy Chess is such a program for online (realtime) chess.
Unfortunately Andres Valverde does not have the intention to put anymore time into developing Buddy Chess further.
ECTool is a very nice correspondence chess program by Andres Valverde. The moves you make on the chess board will automatically be put into PGN-format so you can e-mail it. Incoming moves will also be translated automatically into moves on your board when you open a game. And the program has options to run tournaments, which makes it suitable for the purpose I had in mind here.
I hope some of you chess lovers will care to check it out.

Sorry for ruining your joke Gamavor (jan)!
Edit: it's the hard "k" you should look for btw (the one that looks like a 4).

Oh, I think that 4 is a medium hard "k". In my book the K as in "qez" is said to be the hardest.

I guess it depends on how you define hard. Is your book West Armenian by any chance? Because in East Armenian "q" is soft/aspirated, like the English "k/c", whereas the 15th letter of the alphabet (4) is more like the Dutch "k". Is there another "k" that I don't know about??

Btw, did you choose your new nickname consciously, or do you have no idea what it means in Armenian?
