Bleah! it's sickening... I think they have like 2-3 points in their last ten games! What a time for a slump. I really feel bad for Dougie Gilmour - he's a truly great player and he's about to retire. He deserves a good playoff run, at the very least.... makes me mad.

I will always love Dougie "G".......see, if he had have signed with the leafs again he could very well have enjoyed a good playoff run!
On a serious note though, I agree -- I'd rather see Montreal in the post season then Ottawa or Vancouver!

Actually - as long as they're a Canadian team - I love seeing them in the post-season. I even used to like Winnipeg! Ottawa could be a great opportunity for us to bring the cup back (if they don't choke). And Van has a really exciting team this year.... We'll see how the run goes.

Hey Raffi - The Leafs picked up Wesley from the Canes - a nice addition to the blue-line. I think they're trying to make a run at the cup!

Outside of Church/raising my son, hockey is my biggest obsession!
It's great to see others on here share that.
This is one of the few years were I really don't have a clear favorite for winning the Cup.
I'd like to see the Leafs win, of course.

Does anyone on here go to any minor league games?
I love hockey at all levels and here in Bakersfield I am a season ticket holder with our local team (Condors WCHL). I'd rather watch 10 year old's play on a frozen pond then go to a major league baseball game.
The rivalry between Bakersfield and Fresno is especially intense!

By the way, kudos to the Flyers - they were really good, I must admit - although a weee bit too rough. And the St. Louis Blues put on a great game too at game 7.

I used to be an avid hockey fan, back in CCCP. I remmember when the national team would tour the States, thrashing one team after another. We recently got ESPN on TV so i get to watch some NHL games, now I gotto find a team to cheer for 
. Does LA have a team? Are they any good? And how does the 'conference' system work? Is it like, a number of separate leagues, the winners of which play each other etc.

LA has two teams ... the kings and the ducks ... that's pretty much the limit of my NHL knowledge. If you are looking for a team to root for, I recommend the Lakers. They need all the rooting they can get right now.
