One more section opened
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2004-11-10

On November 9, one more section of the “North-South” highway, treated as the backbone of Artsakh, was inaugurated. It was the Saroushen-Karmir-Shouka 14 km long section. The RA President Robert Kocharyan, the NKR President Arkadi Ghoukasian, Government authorities, Parliament members and many quests were present at the opening ceremony. The construction works were realized by the “Karavan” Ltd.

The construction of the “North-South” highway, which is of strategic, economic and political significance, is being carried out due to the efforts of Armenians worldwide. Another $12.5 million is needed to complete the construction. And the Telethon 2004 scheduled on November 25 aims to raise funds for this very purpose.

I wish there was a telethon for building the information highways, instead of the asphalt ones. So much opportunity is being missed, and years are passing. Oh well, we should contribute anyway.

Which one was it.
Theres so many songs you here once in a while that are so good but you can never get the name.

What was last year?

I think 6 mill Im not sure. But sad to see once again Hayastancis were too suspicious of the fund and didn't help but seems like next year they should get over it.

Speaking of songs --- can anyone help me name the song that Nune sang?

It was a joghovrtayin song (or so my mom said) including phrases that went something like "Spuirkahayer, yerp bidi veratarnak mayr hayasdan.." and it ended with repetitions of "Sasun, Marash, hay hogh e na..." It was upbeat, and I thought it was absolutely perfect for the occasion. I want to know the title and any other info you guys might have...

Vahe: I actually noticed that a disproportionate number of the name flashing on the screens were WA transliterations - and was wondering why. I've always thought it's because Hayastantsis still aren't used to the fact that they live in the Diaspora. This type of stuff is second nature to WAs and Barsgahays, but something completely new for Hayastantsis.

The song which played number of times during the day, with a white horse a lady with a dove, Ararat in the background, Michael Poghosyan, Sushanik Petrosyan, Hayko, and so many others............I nice peace of work I enjoyed it very much

Where did you get the idea Hayastanitsis ware suspicious?
It was a collective effort of Armenian Diaspora and I'm very proud of what we have achieved today, I just hope the momentum will be carried on with the same spirit in the future!

last year was 6.5 million if i remember correctly

Harut, things are getting done. And those who visit Armenia see the results. I believe this is one of the reasons why the grand total was so much higher this year.

I absolutely loved that song. Did you guys notice the tall handsome guy with long hair? He's one of the fresh faces in Armenia - Andre.

I also noticed Sirusho, Zaruhi Babayan, Suzan Margaryan, Goga, Varduhi Vardanyan ...
