Q/A

If you were to ask me why I go on writing, my answer would be, "Don’t ask! -- because I don’t know it myself."
Is it because when I was a child I was brainwashed to believe writers play an important role in the life of a nation? I am not sure.
Force of habit? Maybe.
The hope that one of our skinheads or charlatans will read me, feel exposed, and have insomnia even if it lasts no more than a second or two? That could be another possible reason.
Scare the daylights out of cowards who are afraid of the truth? Why not?
What the hell? What other reason do I need to go on writing?

"If you were to ask me why I go on writing, my answer would be..." - LOL. What is the point of asking Ara anything, given that he never replies to anyones comments or makes any contribution to the forum other than here?

Ara jan,
I'm not interested in ''why'', just in ''what''.
Cheer up, my friend. I'm ready to read you.

Q/A (iii)
***************************
What have I done for Armenia?
I have translated some of her writers into English.
A couple of skinheads, who have not read my translations and don’t know which writers I have translated, have said that my translations are bad and my choice of writers worse. But academics who have both read and reviewed my translations have delivered a more favorable verdict.
What has Armenia – or rather, my fellow Armenians have done for me?
They have done their utmost to reduce me to the status of a Soviet-style non-person. And I can almost hear the voice of a reader who is familiar with the history of our literature saying: "So what else is new?"
