AN OFFER I CAN’T REFUSE

Last week I was invited to join the Armenian Assembly with a coupon offering the first year membership free of charge. My cup will run over niagarally on the day I receive similar offers from the ARF, ADL and the AGBU.
I suspect any day now, to revive their sagging membership, these organizations will send invitations with enclosed bribes, and even then they may have few takers unless there is food involved.
A friend from Washington tells me, when one of these organizations (I no longer remember which) sent out invitations for a banquet honoring some big shot from Yerevan, there were so few takers (at $250.00 per plate, if memory serves) that they sent out another set of invitations free of charge; and sure enough they had a full house -- a glorified soup kitchen for fat-bellied, cigar-chomping, beer-guzzling starving Armenians.
