Գեղեցիկ --- անգեղ(Տորք Անգեղ ), տգեղ
Հաջորդը՝ ձև...
In the words of Toumanian/Tigranian;
Amot qez SASsy/Mossy… du ches amachum!
Calling our beautiful գեղադեմ Տորք Tork the Tgegh. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
But, that is another subject that we will come back to.
Coming back to Harut’s querry;
What I can find, to my utter dissatisfaction , the word is translated as “discontent/dissatisfaction”, my takeoff would be "unhappy". It seems that the original form of the word is “dzhkamakդժկամակ” The real meaning of the prefix may have been lost. In the meantime, what does “dzhokhq/դժոխ(ք)” mean? And, what about “dzhwar//դժվար/դժուար/(difficult/not easy)
You will also note that in the WA orthography the word is spelled as “tzhgam/տժկամ”
In the words of of immortal/anmah Petros Durian;
“Եթէ տժգույն մահու հրէշտակ….”
http://armenianpoetr...m/arm/1667.htmlAll in all, it seems, for some reason the “dzh” prefix has a negative effect. It brings us to “douzh”, which according to Ajarian means, among others, “barbarian/բարբարոս”
Note:Անգեղ has never been used in common Armenian to mean ugly, except, perhaps in poetic licence if needed to rhyme . Tgegh is the word. And Tork is Aagegh, not Tgegh, i.e. from the town of Anggh.
